Other Series - Stargates Avalon and Genesis

Other Series icon
Well, two new series' have been added to the Other Series' section: Stargate Avalon and Stargate Genesis:

"The crew of the BC-303 Bellerophon accidently stumbled upon an Alteran city floating in space inside a Nebula 15 light years from their colony Beta Centauri. It wasnt an accident, but an antihyperspace bypass dampener that shorten their journey home to Earth.

Once they investigated the City, they found a Supergate. They thought it was an Ori Beachhead but further research they found what's it purpose."

This series looks too be set in the near future and be a ship based endevour. However, Genesis seems to be a quite unique idea. Allow me to let them explain:

"When the testing of a new Weapon system for Earths battle cruisers hits an unexpected target, Dr Jackson and a group of explorers are thrown in to the greatest adventure human kind has ever ventured into. This team are caught aboard a magnificent time traveling wonder, the Arc. the Arc was the last hope for all life in the old universe, a failed promise that has been given one final chance to succeed. Genesis tells the story of Daniel Jackson's team and their quest through the depths of time to complete the mission of the arc; knowing full well that if they do not, the universe they have all fought to keep, will never come about to fight for. In a time of great races and ever nearing peril, will the team be able to overcome the grandness of it all and prove that humanity is worthy of greatness once and for all."

Sounding like one of the most unique stories to grace this website, Genesis as well as Avalon both have websites, the links to which you can find in Other Series'. I'm also unsure as to their release dates.

Interview with Geoff Hill

Features icon
With the premiere of "Providence", the pilot of brand new series Stargate Destiny due out on the 17th, I had the chance to sit down with Geoff Hill to talk about the series. Creator, head-writer and all around boss, we talked about the upcoming show:

Elite Anubis Guard - For those out there who don't know anything about Stargate Destiny, can you give us a quick lowdown on what the series is about?

Geoff Hill - Well, Destiny is basically a ship-based virtual spin-off of the Stargate universe. It takes place in the same universe as Stargate: Horizon, so you’ll often see us referring to certain aspects of that show in the scripts. The pilot takes place in 2013, and follows the crew of the XC-314 Destiny, a ship whose mission is the exploration of the Orion galaxy, nearly 20 million light years from earth. While the crew searches for the last legacies of the Ancients, they also encounter a rather cool enemy, if I say so myself, and a great new ally as well."

The rest of the interview talks about characters, enemies and various other things relating to the series. Read the rest of the interview and be sure to tell us what you thought.

SGH - Deleted Scene for "The Cold and Distant Stars"

SG Horizon icon
Alex Rubit of Stargate Horizon has recently released a deleted scene from the 10th episode of season 2 of Horizon. Here, I'll tell him explain:

"There's an interesting scene that was cut from the final draft. It's a scene between Bay'lar and Callen, and, surprise, I figured I'll just post a link to it here.

The scene is about Callen and Bay'lar discussing how to proceed with regard to Sonak. It also shows that Bay'lar doesn't exactly like Sonak too much, because of what he did. This again becomes obvious later in the episode of course. The scene also makes a point of how serious the situation with the Kih'Andari is, and that Bay'lar thinks a war is inevitable.

This scene originally took place early in Act Two. It was the scene that followed the one with Grant and Sivea in the mess hall. It was deleted for two reasons actually. One, it wasn't really necessary for it to be there, even though it would have explained why Sonak isn't being treated as a prisoner (I figured it was kind of self-explanatory). Two, and more importantly, I felt it kind of slowed the episode down too much. It seemed to distract from the main storyline, which is the mystery of what's happened to Sonak and his ship. So, in terms of pacing I think it works much better to go from Grant and Sivea straight to Chase and Tom on the Kih'Andari bridge."

The scene has been released in a 4 page PDF document, which you can download here. Be sure to tell us what you think.

SGH - Blog Update

SG Horizon icon
What's this, you say? I know, I'm as stunned as you. Alex has gotten around to updating the SG Horizon blog and quite a blog it is in which he reveals this stunning spoiling:

"we're thinking about doing a Christmas story arc next season. I pitched out the idea that Santa Claus could actually be an Ancient, living on Earth at the north pole, and that the Ancients invented Christmas for a higher purpose. Granted, it's too early to talk about Season Three, but I could imagine doing a season long arc, that deals with our heroes having to solve the mystery of the Ancient Christmas carol mythology which might be the key to not only understanding ascension, but the universe itself. The ghosts of Christmas past, present and future would obviously be ascended Ancients. In this event Charles Dickens would have been one of the surviving Ancients, which explains the origins of Ebenezer Scrooge, who in turn was an Ancient at risk of falling victim to the book of origin, thus becoming an Ori follower, which would have been devastating. I'm also considering that - that's if Atlantis would choose to incorporate this idea, which I'll pitch to Brad Wright, Rob Cooper, Joe Mallozzi & Co. once I get the chance - Christmas could be the key to defeating the Wraith. I'm still working on the details for that one."

I don't know about you, but that would make one hell of a story. As usual, he talks about a couple of things and reflects back on the season. Check it out.

The final episode of the year, "The Devil to Pay", written by Alex Rubit has been released.

SGA- Change in Staff

Other Series icon
Well Atlas has been quiet lately, and thats been due to a number of different reasons, which former Producer Danny Loach has explained to us:

"As you all know I have been attempting to recruit writers for the last two months and as some know I did find a great writer who agreed to take over from me in the writing department, with me remaining as pretty much everthing else.

However, I have recently been struggling with multiple issues and masses of stress, meaning that I have had to do something I never wanted to do. As of today my chief writer and his team of writers have taken over the production of Atlas, and I have stepped aside.

You will still see Atlas in the near future, but I will no longer be a part of it beyond creative consultant.

Although he does not wish to join SGU he has agreed to provide links to the finished episodes when they are released around August/September"

So, doesn't look like we'll be seeing much more of Atlas here on SG Universe, but good luck to the new guy and I hope you the best.

"As Sonak is found on board a heavily damaged ship, the Horizon team discovers that the balance of power in the galaxy is being altered."
