SGH - Episode Details & Hiatus Feature

In anticipation of their return in a couple of weeks, Stargate Horizon has released episode details on the upcoming Path of Revelation, the second episode in the three-part, mid-season arc:

"”Path of Revelation, Part One” picks up right where “The Devil To Pay” left off. The Enoly are threatening to launch an all-out attack on Earth, if ISGC doesn’t comply with their demands to recall all its off world personnel and shut down its operations. While Earth’s latest and most advanced battle cruiser – the Bellerophon – is launched with a small contingent of available BC 303s, Colonel Grant hopes that with the help of General Williams he will be able to take down the Phoenix Coalition, who are the architects behind the predicament Earth finds itself in. Yet when the Colonel gains surprising information from the mysterious Nebulan Woman, it becomes clear that the key to Earth’s survival lies in the Ancient chamber discovered in Malaysia.

”Path of Revelation, Part One” is the first part of the two part conclusion to the mid-season finale, “The Devil To Pay”. Written by executive producer Alex Rubit, the guest cast includes General Frank Williams, Dureg, James Edmunds, Charles Murphy, Yusuf, the Nebulan Woman, as well as President Henry Hayes. In addition, the episode will feature the first female starship “captain” seen on Stargate, Colonel Mackenzie Logan.

”Path of Revelation, Part One” will air Thursday, March 23rd, when all new episodes of Stargate: Horizon will be premiering. Keep an eye on StargateHorizon.com for more exclusive info on each of the upcoming episodes as they draw closer."

You can expect to find similar reports popping up soon on the Stargate Horizon website. Think that's just all your getting? No, sir.

"In general outlines vary, depending on how every show does them, ours are actually quite detailed. Sometimes we might start off with a rough outline (or beat sheet), but I've always found it very helpful to have this kind of detailed idea of every scene before writing it, and it's been working quite well for us. Believe it or not, our typical outline length is around 15 pages. And, yes, every single episode that hits your screens has started off like this, and has gone through this kind of process - writing the outline, notes from the staff, revising the outline (you'll see that often previous scenes were omitted, mostly due to length issues or because they were simply not needed). And only once the outline is in top shape, we'll proceed to script stage. Quite some effort for each episode, but it pays off. Makes actually writing the script a lot easier.

A couple of notes on this particular outline. First off, you'll find a mysterious "Directed by" credit on it. That's kind of an internal thing we do for fun - virtual directors, if you will. We've never publicly done that. It would probably cause some confusion. The (OPTICAL) notes behind scenes with visual effects was also something we did kind of for fun every now and then. On a shooting script you'd include those notes to have an idea how many visual effects shots the episode would have. The outline also shows you how the episode was originally conceived - initially it wasn't a special length episode, and this was the original structure. You'll also get to see what the initial cliffhanger ending was."

This is the original outline for the Season 2 opener, A Time to Rise. You can find that at the Stargate Horizon forum.

SGH- Blog Update

Mike has updated his Horizon blog:

"My next endeavor "Catch 22," will begin as soon as the final few story points are sorted out. I wrote the outline in a day but Joe suggested some changes that had to be made. This story never has been easy. With 2.09 involving mostly Grant, Christine, and Lenori, and 2.16 involving mostly Yusuf, Christine, and Tom, and 2.18 being mostly David, 2.21 will be a complete team episode, and I can't wait for it, to be honest."

The rest talks about the usual. Check it out.

SGD - "Lost, but not forgotten" exclusive

The next Stargate: Destiny Episode, 106 "Lost, but not Forgotten", has unfortunantly been pushed back an extra week. So, to make up for the extra time us fans have to sit and wait, I managed to get a few words with its writer, Adrian Curtis.

You probably know Adrian as the writer of 104 "Behemoth", one of the most well-received SGD episodes to-date, scoring 5 out of 5 from our resident reviewer (read the review here). He is also one of the staff members here at SGU, and to top it all off, he is a Aussie, like me!

Valorin: How is your next SGD episode going?
Adrian: not bad, im well into act 3
Valorin: Cool, got any exclusives you can give me?
Adrian:
  • We will get a first look at the higer members of the Malecathi leadership [in 106 "Lost, but not Forgotten"]
  • "The Farm" [108] will introduce and old enemy in a very different way
  • ["I Think, Therefore..."] 107 will present an old story in a new way and a look at some of sgd's first real aliens

Big thanks go to Adrian for filling us in and providing us with something to think about while we wait for "Lost, but not Forgotten" to be aired.

Also they have put their release dates back another week due to the problems with the website. Until then, check out their latest stuff over at the Stargate Destiny website.

Features- Behemoth Review

Captain Pash has finally finished his latest review of Stargate Destiny. This one is of Behemoth, the popular episode by Adrian Curtis:

"The action in this episode was well written, and made me like it. I didn’t have a problem with beats this time around, there were some but they weren’t over used. The camera angle stuff was also only used when needed, and that makes me happy again. Though most of that stuff may seem like nit picking it really does effect if someone wants to read the episode or if they just get really bored."

Just to say we're not only limited to one reviewer. If you read the series' featured on this site and would like to review, then give us a ring (on the forum). Read the rest of the review.

SGH- Blog Update

Well Alex Rubit has done another one his infrequent updates to his blog. It contains the usual Horizon talk as well as more personal stuff:

"Lots of things have developed. About two weeks ago I was having a couple of days off from work, and so I went to do an elaborate writing marathon. I ended up writing "Night Terrors" in about four days, and now, brace yourselves, after I finished "Night Terrors" I started "The Adversary" at the same day. And I've set up my new personal record when I finished the first draft after two and a half days of non-stop writing. I was quite happy with how they had turned out, and after taking a couple of days before doing slight revisions, I had turned them in."

Head on over and check out the rest of it.

SGD- Blog Update

The Stargate Destiny Blog has recived a long awaited update:

"We (Geoff, Adrian and myself) are all hard at work on our next set of episodes. I am currently somewhere near the end of the 3rd act of "The Farm" which is currently slated for 1x08. It's another dark episode which I am really enjoying writing. Look for another Tenyris/Morgami moment. Adrian is working on "Lost But Not Forgotten". I haven't read much, but from what I read of the outline, it's gonna be an interesting episode."

The rest talks about the other episodes and various personal bits and bobs. Check it out.
