Stargate Destiny - 103 Friendly Fire Review

I really liked this one, and I hope you guys did to anyways I reviewed and read it really fast because it was that good of an episode. However, my next review won't be for a little while so have fun.

This is Captain Pash, and I have now read friendly fire. I must admit, I loved this episode. I was a little behind, and I started to read it about two hours ago, and with a break for food I finished and started the review. It was a really good episode. I just loved it. I didn’t remind me at all of the episode of SG-1 where the UAV crashed. This episode was totally different.

Now I will try not to spoil anything, but I will fail because this episode is pretty complex. It was well written, and shows what a good stand alone episode should be. It also fulfilled the rules of the first six episodes as laid down by Joss Whendon. “The first six episodes are like the pilot.” Basically you have to make sure that you introduce the characters to a certain extent in the first six episodes. Which this episode did well.

First I would like to say that the teaser was again interesting and engaging but it has a continuing problem through out the episode. “BEAT” Was used far too often. I mean I know what it means, but sometimes I got sick of seeing the word beat. It was the only real problem with the episode, but it doesn’t drag the episode down to much. I liked the first act, and the exploring, and of course the Star Wars reference.

The second act was a great act, and it was action packed to, and I loved all the back story on the Thull warriors. I also liked how fast paced the episode seemed to be. I of course noted some spelling error, but I am not one to talk. The whole episode was so fast paced that I have a lot of trouble disguising between the acts because well I just kept reading, and not caring how far I was into the episode. I did notice how there was a reference to 5 orion-1 members because the Lt.’s name was said twice in two different ways. I also had a little trouble disguising between the two T’s but when I went back I figured out who was who.

This episode did have some character development. I like how Hemmingway felt after what she did, but the writer does seem to be an author action driving the story, not characters driving the story. I myself try for the latter, but one can’t always have the characters drive a story. I am going to give this episode 4/5 for the great improvement it showed, but I still want to see some more improvement. Hopefully by the time the next episode comes out we see how well EAG can write. Anyways I say keep on reading Destiny because I sure am.
